Northern Territory PHN Health Workforce Scholarship Program

Northern Territory PHN (NT PHN) have announced the opening of the Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP). An initiative of the Australian Government Department of Health, the HWSP will provide scholarships and bursaries to eligible medical, nursing, allied health, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers and practitioners.

Through the management of HWSP in the Territory, NT PHN aim to improve the access to health services in remote areas of the Northern Territory, by supporting professional development and an increase in skills, capacity and/or scope of practice for remote health professionals.

The HWSP will be available to eligible medical, nursing and allied health, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers and practitioners, working or providing services in the primary health care sector in areas categorised as Modified Monash Model (MMM) 3-7.

Scholarships of up to $10,000 ex GST per year up to two years ($20,000 ex GST total) are available for medical, nursing and allied health, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers and practitioners undertaking further postgraduate study. The first round of scholarships for 2018 opened 20 November and close 20 December 2017.

One-off bursary payments up to $10,000 ex GST are available for medical, nursing and allied health, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers undertaking training, professional development and upskilling. HWSP Bursaries opened on 20 November 2017 and will remain open ongoing.
