What is the HAES approach?

What is the HAES approach?

The framing for a Health At Every Size (HAES®) approach comes out of discussions among healthcare workers, consumers, and activists who reject both the use of weight, size, or BMI as proxies for health, and the myth that weight is a choice. The HAES model is an approach to both policy and individual decision-making.

Who should attend?

This event is for interested medical practitioners, nurses, aboriginal health and allied health practitioners and organisations who wish to hear from local health colleagues.

Anastasia Grasso is an accredited practicing dietitian (APD), she enjoys helping people change habits to make healthy, wholesome eating easy for the whole family.

She has a personal interest in the psychology of nutrition- and believes in using a non-diet approach to health and wellness. There is an increasing body of evidence to indicate that weight loss diets don't work in the long term and can lead to poorer physical and mental health, increased risk of disordered eating and body dissatisfaction.

Other areas of interest include weight and body concern, adolescent health, insulin resistance, diabetes, IBS and gut health, early childhood nutrition,.
